Available to makers
Section titled “Available to makers”Dropdown and Multi Select can show choices on the form
Section titled “Dropdown and Multi Select can show choices on the form”Dropdown and Multi Select have a Behaviour switch named Inline options. It sits above Is Required. The switch is off until you turn it on. Create forms and update forms both have it, on phone and desktop.
- Off, a Dropdown stays a closed menu. The menu still has a blank first row that clears the choice.
- Off, a Multi Select still opens its own screen. Search narrows the list, Done keeps the checks, and Back discards them.
- On, a Dropdown lists every option as a radio on the form. There is no blank row. Choosing a radio replaces the previous choice. Clicking the selected radio does not clear it.
- On, a Multi Select lists every option as a checkbox on the form. Checking or unchecking saves immediately. Search, Done, and the separate screen are not used.
- Helper text stays under the label and above the choices. A long label wraps, and the radio or checkbox lines up with the first line.
- Select Multiple Options (With Value) does not have this switch. It still opens its own screen.
What makers need to do
Section titled “What makers need to do”- Nothing, for existing apps. They keep the menu or the separate screen.
- To show radios or checkboxes, select the Dropdown or Multi Select, open Behaviour, and turn on Inline options.
