This release adds Wrap Text to Select Items screens, so people can read long item names before choosing a record.

Wrap long text in Select Items

Open a Select Items screen in the builder, then go to Layout → Wrap Text.

With Wrap Text on:

• Long titles expand onto as many lines as needed instead of ending with an ellipsis.
• Subtitles and captions wrap too when they are shown.
• Both List and Grid view types are supported.
• The row or grid card grows to fit the text. Cards in the same grid row stay aligned.
• The radio button or checkbox stays aligned with the first line of text.
• The setting works in phone and desktop views, including Select Items opened by a Reference component in Selection mode.

Search, filters, scrolling, single- and multi-selection, and the Select button continue to work the same way.

Note

Wrap Text is off by default. Existing Select Items screens keep the previous one-line, ellipsis behavior until you turn it on. If an older screen already has a saved Wrap Text = true value from when the control was hidden, that screen will begin wrapping after this release.

How to use it

1. Open the Select Items screen in the builder.
2. Open Layout.
3. Turn on Wrap Text.
4. Preview the screen in List and Grid if your app uses both.
5. Publish.

If a Reference component uses Selection mode, it opens a Select Items screen. Turn on Wrap Text on that Select Items screen; there is no separate wrap setting on the Reference component.

Changed on the backend

Nothing. MR 1356 is a frontend-only change. It does not change the API, sync, database schema, or data stored in Notion, and it requires no migration.
