My data has stopped syncing. What could be the issue?

Section titled “My data has stopped syncing. What could be the issue?”

Open the app in the builder → Settings → Data. Read Sync Health (overall status, the database table, current issues, and recent syncs) before you assume sync is broken.

Partial, Held, Waiting, or Throttled is not the same as stopped. Extra local rows were kept, writes are still sending, or Notion asked us to wait. Use View details, then Retry if it stays there.

Two of those need a word more:

  • Held with N not in Notion means a complete read found many rows missing and NotionApps did not remove them. The row waits for you: Keep these rows or I removed these in Notion. Rows are removed only after you choose the second, and only on the next complete sync. See Reload and sync.
  • Waiting or a row on Sending after Notion rate-limited us clears on its own. Those writes retry with a wait; a manual Sync is not needed.

There could be a few reasons why data would actually stop:

  1. NotionApps has lost authorization access to your account. Health says Access blocked. Reconnect Notion, then Sync Now.
  2. The database was deleted, moved, or unshared. Health says Missing. Share it with the integration, then Sync Now.
  3. You changed a database relation property from a two-way relation to a one-way relation.
  4. You have a separate property named “title” other than the main Title property.

In most cases, re-authorize or revert the Notion change, then use Sync Now on the Sync Health row (same as Reload Data on Databases).

If it still needs help, use Create ticket on that row. The ticket is prefilled with the app, database, and health state. Do not paste tokens or secrets.

If the issue persists, email help@notionapps.com.
